Project Buyer
What you’ll do:
- Developing an in-depth product and process knowledge base about responsible technologies and global supply base including thorough understanding of the entire value added chain and cost drivers through supplier workshops, plant visits, technical reviews, etc.
- Negotiating Component Engineering changes to avoid cost creep and improve project objectives.
- Executing all purchasing related activities of product/project development as assigned within the specified projects and within the requirements of the Autoliv Production Development System.
- Supporting cross functional team initiatives around lead time reduction, cost improvements and supply vulnerability improvements.
- Engaging as purchasing interface with the cross functional team.
- Managing the requests for quotes received from the program team and obtains or estimates costs with the Commodity Buyers.
- Protecting or enhancing company margins by coordinating lowest cost sourcing, maintaining, or improving material margins through launch, via cost reduction idea generation and implementation.
- Leading Feasibility Reviews and Contract Reviews prior to tool kick off
- Placing purchase orders needed to support new product development.
- Procuring all pre-production production and prototype components through SOP
- maintain accurate costed bill of material and tooling cost through change management from phase zero through SOP
- Creating synergies between Purchasing, Quality and Engineering to ensure preferred solutions are maintained
What is required:
- 4-year degree with Supply Chain Management, Business, Materials, or technical educational background.
- 1-5 years of project and/or Commodity Purchasing experience at a Tier One Automotive Supplier.
- Negotiation skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to read drawings
- Time management
- Understanding manufacturing process associated with components.
- Ability to work in cross functional teams.
- Excellent English speaking and writing skills
- Travel is 10 – 20 %. Willingness to support global projects at times. (off hour work)
- Availability to work on site 60% of the time
