Director of Finance – Americas
The Finance Director - Americas will serve as a key strategic and operational finance leader within the Americas division of a $11B global Swedish automotive technology company. This role is responsible for driving financial excellence and business partnership across the region by leading both the Controllership and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) functions. The position oversees a geographically dispersed finance team covering technical accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and business analytics, ensuring accurate and timely financial insights to support decision-making at all levels.
What you’ll do:
Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the Americas CFO and Americas Executive Leadership Team, partnering on key initiatives including growth, operational efficiency, and margin expansion.
- Lead and inspire a high-performing finance team across four countries (Canada, USA, Mexico, Brazil), fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Align regional finance strategies with global corporate goals and ensure consistent application of financial policies, processes, and internal controls.
Controllership & Technical Accounting
- Oversee all accounting operations within the Americas region, including compliance with IFRS and local GAAPs.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes; ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Manage technical accounting issues, audits, and statutory filings in coordination with global and local teams.
- Ensure strong internal controls and risk management frameworks are in place and operating effectively in partnerships with controls manager.
FP&A & Business Partnership
- Lead the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning processes across all countries in Americas and business units in the region.
- Provide insightful analysis and dashboards to support business decisions, operational performance, and strategic planning.
- Partner with functional and business leaders to drive financial performance, cost management, and investment decision-making.
- Identify and lead financial transformation initiatives, including system enhancements, automation, and process improvements.
Cross-Regional & Global Collaboration
- Act as the primary finance liaison between the Americas region and the global finance on accounting alignment matters.
- Champion finance best practices, innovation, and alignment across business units and geographies.
- Drive integration and standardization of financial processes across the Americas in alignment with Finance strategy and Americas Shared Services.
What is required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA or equivalent certification preferred. MBA is a plus.
• 12+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including a strong background in both Accounting/Controllership and FP&A functions.
• Demonstrated experience managing multinational finance teams and operating in complex, matrixed environments.
• Deep knowledge of IFRS and regional/local accounting standards (US GAAP, etc.).
• Proven track record of driving financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic influence in a manufacturing or automotive setting.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in Automotive industry is required.
