Analytical Chemist
Analytical Chemist
Performs chemical analyses related to R&D, problem solving, environmental, and industrial hygiene efforts. Develops and validates new test methods as needs arise. Consults with company personnel on chemistry related questions and topics.
What you’ll do:
- Performs chemical analyses on a variety of samples related to R&D and production
- Develops and validates chemical analysis methods
- Improves analytical figures of merit, analysis times, and costs associated with lab work
- Provides analytical chemistry support to other company facilities and groups
- Manages generation, analysis, reporting, and storage of lab data
- Maintains lab instruments, computers, and software
- Provides safety and technical training to lab staff
- Implements the lab quality system
- Acts as company spokesman on chemistry related topics and questions
- Provides support on legal issues with chemistry implications
What is required:
- PhD in analytical chemistry preferred
- MS in chemistry with extensive instrumentation experience may be considered
- 0-5 years of related experience
- Fundamental understanding of analytical chemistry.
- Gas analysis experience desired
- Polymer analysis experience desired
- Required instrumentation experience: FTIR, GC, GC-MS, ICP-OES
- Desired instrumentation experience: HPLC, IC, Spark-OES, SEM-EDS, DSC
- Strong computer skills including programming, interfacing instruments with computers, and spreadsheet skills
- Excellent written communications skills
- Familiarity with lab safety practices
- Familiarity with quality system implementation (ISO 17025)
- General software proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint
