What you’ll do:
- Act as a design engineer in developing frontal knee airbag modules and subcomponents that will meet customer and Autoliv expectations. (Also possibly support some driver and passenger module efforts)
- Lead and work on KAB GDPs assigned to AAM. • Create KAB BOMs in ICAN for KAB RFQs based off our design guidelines and the customers requests.
- Act as the Regional Design Authority (RDA). Support the GDAs in communicating, revising, and updating design guidelines and technical documentation. Involved with Team Feasibility Commitments (TFCs) with sourced suppliers in our region.
- Work with a cross-functional team to develop basic data and release sketches, and notes, specifications (including DFMEA, DVP&R and other relevant engineering documents) necessary to define design concepts.
- Investigate design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and specification requirements and cost.
- Release drawings of complex assemblies, parts, mechanisms, and structures.
- Create and check drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
- Verify product performance through analysis and testing, identify product non-conformances, design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements.
- Be a consultant to application engineering and production for KAB performance issues.
- Support benchmarking, new program quotes, electrical aspects of KAB airbag modules.
What is required:
- BS, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree
- 5+ years’ experience with KAB design and manufacture is desired.
- Other airbag product design and development experience is helpful.
- Understanding of technical drawings, problem solving skills, analyzing data, entrepreneurial and commercial thinking, presenting and communcation
- 3D computer skill (Solid Works or CATIA), navigate and create things in PLM, ICAN and Open Project.
