Product Area Buyer
Specifically responsible for Divisional Segment Purchasing of Metals, in support of multiple Product Lines. Works within a purchasing team to create a purchasing strategy for a segment of goods. Supports Product Area Manager & Global Lead Buyer. Evaluates vendor quotes, services, and savings, to determine the most desirable suppliers. Works all aspects of vendor relationship management and lifecycle. Supports divisional workshops & Zero-Defect Strategy with Supplier Quality. Requires a bachelor's degree with preference given for knowledge, skills and abilities that apply most directly to the position. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function as it relates specifically to Raw Materials purchasing, new technology and manufacturing methods.
What you’ll do:
- Support Multiple Product Line Teams
- Support specific Standard Components; Raw Materials for AAM Product Lines
- Strong understanding of raw materials is preferred
- Meet stated KPIs for MPV, Supplier Consolidation, NCM, WCC, etc…
- Develop best in class suppliers (Cost, Quality, Delivery)
- Responsible for negotiations, cost modeling, LTA, Resourcing, & other
- Implement VEVAs & resourcing determined utilzing AS7
- Dual source where applicable, and mitigate risk & supply issues
- Stratigically source all new business in-line with Steering Wheel Strategy per AS57
- Conduct SRM & SRP supplier risk analysis
- Utilize global AGPS & Supplier Board system keeping up-to-date
What is required:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1-5 years of experience in Purchasing, Standard Components, Raw Material Trends, Engineering, Quality, Negotiation
- Willingness to Travel up to 20%
