This role will demonstrate proficiency in all functional areas of Human Resources to include policy and process interpretation, employee relations and organizational effectiveness
HR Generalist will objectively coach, counsel, and guide both managers and employees through complex and difficult issues.
What you’ll do:
- Employee Relations: Investigates employee or management concerns, questions, and complaints. Provides coaching and development for managers and employees, resolves conflicts and acts as a facilitator with resolution. Communicates with HR Manager and Legal department as needed regarding terminations or resignations. Conducts exit interviews. Supports the Leave of Absence process through understanding, communication, and administration of FMLA, and STD/LTD. Ensures consistent application of plant code of conduct and disciplinary action for associates. Handles unemployment claims and assists with appeals.
- Talent Acquisition: Presents offers of employment and schedules necessary background, physical testing and drug testing. Partner closely with local community organizations to develop strong candidate sources. Supports job fairs, career fairs and college recruiting as requested.Supports the mentor program through new employee onboarding, orientations, training and related activities. Conducts onboarding discussions with new hires as designated and ensures new associates are successfully integrated to their work group. Develop workforce planning/ forecasting analysis to ensure right people in right place at right time.
- Technology Management: Maintains multiple human resource information systems databases and keeps employee files up to date and accurate through the proper processing of personnel action forms. Maintains databases as it relates to new hire and termination processes, leave of absences administration, attendance tracking, employee files, HR electronic files, etc. Learning and Development. Promote the Company competency models, performance management process and functional career development tools. Implement and facilitate basic skills, compliance training and supervisory training.
- Employee Engagement and Retention: Continuously improve employee retention. Measure and communicate results to leaders and develop action plans. Conducts stay interviews, meets with employees and initiates actions to improve employee experience. Coordinate employee relations activities and company events in conjunction with other members of the leadership and HR team.
- Strategic Planning: Effectively works with line management in planning for and meeting plant goals and objectives including all HR processes, programs and initiatives. Demonstrates ability to understand how the business/client groups operate at a fundamental level and partner with HR team members to implement these solutions. Partners with operations leaders, develop and execute communication plans within operations functions across shifts/levels including use of metrics and other communication tools that drive continuous improvement. Participates with the HR team in developing department goals, objectives, and systems for the facility. Works closely with local management teams and HR colleagues to ensure consistent application of corporate HR strategies and policy application. Successfully drives change in the organization.
What is required:
- Bachelors Degree or above in Human Resource Management or Business-related field required.
- 3+ years of HR experience required.
- Intermediate HR experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred
- Proven experience supporting 600+employees in various HR related disciplines
- Experience coaching and interacting with various positions throughout the organization.
- Experience developing and implementing action plans to build strong team oriented and positive employee relations environment.
- Experience facilitating employee and supervisory training strongly preferred.
- Knowledge / experience with Lean manufacturing concepts preferred.
