Data Center Engineer - Linux Specialist
Autoliv is seeking an engineer-level IT professional to join its Global Data Center Engineering team with a focus on Linux Server Operating System.
This team is responsible for designing, optimizing and operating a complex global infrastructure.
The high-level technology stack includes: servers, storage, backup, data centers and related technologies (virtualization, storage fabric, identity, etc.).
Key Responsibilities of the Position:
- Design and implement a standard Linux environment (management platform, patching, etc.)
- As part of the global Data Center Services team, engineer (build, implement) infrastructure solutions, including DR/HA, for existing and new systems in data centers, server rooms, and the cloud.
- Define and implement enterprise standards for data center infrastructure
- Provide level 3 escalation support to the operations teams (1st level service desk, 2nd level Data Center operations).
- Review and upgrade technical infrastructure at data centers and sites
- Document current and future system landscape, including interfaces.
- Plan migration of legacy systems to global standards
- Work with large, distributed, global, environments
- Define operational procedures and handover solutions/processes to 2nd/1st level
- Work with other IT teams (divisional/local, functional, external partners, etc.)
- Work with the business to define project requirements Shift:
- Must be flexible in working hours. Hours will primarily be 8:00am - 5:00pm (depending on location) although must be able to support various hours of project activities / conference calls to collaborate with other regions on projects.
Position Requirements:
- Significant skill and experience in designing enterprise data center services
- Strong service management (service definition, incident and change management, etc.). ITIL training/certification is a plus.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Candidates should have experience architecting / managing the technologies listed below: Enterprise Linux - server and mini-computer (e.g. Raspberry Pi) distributions, etc.
- Enterprise Server (physical, virtual, HPCC, etc.)
- Server virtualization (VMware, etc.)
- Enterprise Storage (SAN / NAS / Fabric / etc.)
- Windows Server OS (including core services such as DHCP/DNS/DFS/File Services/etc.) Application and client virtualization (Citrix, RDS, VDI - Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) o Backup / Restore / Archive / Data management
- Cloud Services (Public and Private cloud / Hypervisor); Azure emphasis
Job experience:
- 5-10 years in Enterprise IT or a technical consultancy type of role, significant experience in Linux server
Educational requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (3-4 years).
- Relevant industry certifications are a plus (vendor certifications, Microsoft, etc.)
Additional Requirements:
- Light to moderate travel requirements with some international requirements.
