Job Summary:
The Serial Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is a key role at Autoliv and is responsible for working with external suppliers to develop robust processes and deliver high quality parts. Serial SQE is involved from the pre-qualification of the supplier through the successful launch of components. Activities include verification of suppliers’ use of industry standards, Autoliv Standards, review of suppliers agreed to production lines/practices, and follow-up on non-conforming materials and events to closure. The Serial SQE will work with internal teams such as Project Launch, Purchasing, Engineering and other Quality teams to plan quality events and resolve issues. Manage PPAP/PSW approvals for external suppliers.
Core Responsibilities:
- Actively involved in new component sourcing and development
- Component drawing review and approval
- Involved in the Team Feasibility Commitment process with Purchasing, Engineering and Suppliers
- Involved in control level definition for PPAP package together with Project Buyer and Engineering
- Owner of Supplier Quality Project supporting APQP
- Define the Supplier Quality Project tasks with the suppliers
- Follow up completion of Supplier Quality Project tasks in terms of timing and quality for defined deliverables
- Participate in supplier production trial runs and Run at Rate per control level definition
- Perform audits and PFMEA go and see as applicable for new projects
- Define the Incoming Inspection / Delivery Approval Requirement template and manage the Interim Inspection Plan at the supplier as applicable
- Owner of component PPAP approval
- Escalate Supplier Quality Project delays / deviations according to internally defined standards
- Actively connected with Autoliv Production Development System project teams
- Provide guidance to supplier deployment of Autoliv Supplier Manual (ASM)
- Support other divisions in terms of supplier on-site project activities when requested
- Support requests for on-site supplier activities from Commodity Supplier Quality and Purchasing team members
- Participate in rating for Supplier Quality Project and responsiveness performance
- Ensures that root-cause analysis and corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and documentation is compliant with requirements.
- Ensure that Annual Layout inspection reports are uploaded in the ALV system for their assigned suppliers
- Owner of NCM 8D from D4 to closure
- Provide Lessons Learned approach by carrying over knowledge and experience to new parts / suppliers
- Utilize required systems as defined by Autoliv Standards
- Additional projects as requested
- Travel as needed to support any items listed above
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering is required.
- Minimum 3 years of automotive industry and/or engineering experience required
- English speaking/writing is required
- Willing to travel and work-off hours when needed
- Experience in deployment and/or auditing of APQP, PPAP, 8D, FMEA, SPC, VDA
• Knowledgeable in IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements
• Experience in managing projects
• Excels at oral and written communication skills
• Experience in coaching, mentoring, and negotiating
• Demonstrate high competence in assembling data and presenting information clear and concise
