Autoliv, Inc., a world leader in the development and production of automotive safety systems, is currently looking to fill the role of a Project Manager in the Value Engineering/Value Analysis Group (VEVA) at its Auburn Hills, MI facility. The role entails the responsibility to identify, plan and implement VEVA projects that create value, eliminate waste, and reduce cost. The ideal candidate will drive cost reductions through new product designs, serial product enhancements, process improvements, and task focus cost reduction activities including optimization studies, bench marking, vertical integration and make/buy comparisons. The candidate will lead, facilitate, and/or support a cross-functional team including customer groups, R & D, operations, procurement, and quality. Must be a self-directed, results oriented professional that has a take charge attitude for delivering results while meeting project deadlines. Job responsibilities include:

• Coordinate and drive VEVA activities to improve value and function while reducing cost of Autoliv products and processes.
• Generate, develop, and implement savings concepts and ideas that promote good design, tool, and manufacturing practices for new program development.
• Develop and maintain full business cases for VEVA projects including all necessary information to accurately describe the extent and cost of the change.
• Ensure planned validation testing fulfills regional requirements and customer needs. If project is Global ensure GDA validation plan is also fulfilled.
• Maintain timing schedules and accurate updates on VEVA ideas, projects, and activities in VEVA database.
• Track engineering, manufacturing, quality and account changes that impact project cost and timing. Communicate customer requirements through ongoing contact with account representatives.
• Support project and customer meetings (internally & externally) to track progress and ensure timely closure of milestones, deliverables, and open issues.
• Support the promotion and execution of value engineering workshops and brainstorming sessions or other forums to develop a continual stream of VEVA cost reduction projects.

The position may require travel up to 20% (nationally and/or internationally).

A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing and/or Industrial Engineering, along with a minimum of 3 years' Project Management experience within the Automotive Industry is required. Other qualifications include: 

• Basic understanding of tooling, process, and cost estimating for stampings, injection molding, and die castings

• SAVE MOD1 Certified - AVS or equivalent preferred

• Experience in CAD

• Results-oriented with the ability to support cross-functional local and global teams

• Good verbal and written communication skills plus proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently

• Ability and willingness to travel nationally and/or internationally
