Development Engineer - Textiles - OTC - REQ 88385
Job Responsibilities:
Provide textile component development to support and meet Autoliv and customer airbag cushions and textile materials expectations
Contribute to new product development by selecting and/or developing new materials and processes.
Successfully deliver manufacturable product concepts that add value to the customer.
Investigate material properties and design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, specification requirements, and cost.
Verify product performance through analysis and testing
Work with a cross-functional team to develop basic data and release sketches, notes, specifications (including DFMEA, DVP&R, and other relevant engineering documents) necessary to define material and design concepts
Create and release product specifications and drawings of textile materials and cushion assemblies
Check drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning
Drive process development and improvement at textile component suppliers
Drive standardization of textiles components within the organization Identify product non-conformances, design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies and recommend revisions and/or improvements
Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Textiles Engineering or equivalent at an accredited university
Entry level - experience advantageous, but not required, for design and development skills
Must have excellent textiles understanding and engineering skills
Have strong communication skills
Have a good work ethic, be a team player, and follow through on commitments
Be detail oriented, and have an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Must be competent in 3D computer skills (CATIA, Solid Works, etc.).
Working knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) strongly desired
