Autoliv is looking to hire a Development Engineer, working in the Seat Belt Core Engineering Business Unit at our Technical Center located in Auburn Hills, MI. The Development Engineer will be responsible for investigating, root cause analysis, and recommending product improvements to chronic buckle head issues. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Apply knowledge and expertise to product technical difficulty inherent in buckle component/mechanism design and interactions.
  • Work together with multiple groups across the organization within the region such as the GPM team, Business Units and Seat Belt Manufacturing.
  • Effectively interact with cross-functional teams at the Global Tech Centers.
  • Deliver results for product robustness improvements.
  • Deliver results for buckle cycler fixture improvements.
  • Ensure daily activities are in alignment with Autoliv Seat Belt Policy Deployment.
  • Achieve zero defects: Test Incident Reports for buckle heads.
  • Strong focus on quality products; First time pass on all buckle head PV tests.
  • Conduct accurate engineering analysis, root cause analysis and develop problem solving methods.
  • Deep technical analysis of the inner workings and functions of the K12SE Buckle family.
  • Quickly learn engineering systems such as of PLM, DVM and Lotus Notes.
  • Apply knowledge of design for progressive stamping, die-cast, and injection molded components.

A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, along with minimum 5 years product engineering experience is required. Additional qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • Experienced Mechanical Engineer with knowledge of component design and assembly design
  • Understanding of injection molding and stamping technologies
  • Mechanism analysis experience
  • Product launch experience
  • Test lab experience
  • Engineering release of components and assemblies
  • Ability to problem solve
