Autoliv is accepting applications for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager at the Promontory, UT facility. 

Job Description

  • Establish facility policies/procedures for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, administer, coordinate and implement facility health and safety activities, inspections, and auditing to improve the health and safety of Autoliv’s employees.
  • Anticipate, recognize, evaluate and control occupational injury or disease conditions and environmental hazards
  • Work with team members and management to set HS&E goals and objectives that foster continuous improvement
  • Conduct job hazard assessments and floor reviews to ensure machine guarding, ergonomics, LOTO, radiation, laser and other programs and or processes are OSHA compliant and protect team members
  • Assist senior management in regulatory interfacing, licensing, inspections, citations, and litigation
  • Manage Workers Compensation, OSHA recordkeeping and Modified Duty programs
  • Collect data and prepare environmental, health and safety reports, such as; air emissions, hazard waste, storm water, tier II and accident/incident
  • Manage HS&E audits, pyrotechnic hazards analysis, process safety management, front-end process engineering risk assessment, operational review of new processes and oversight over potential HS&E issues
  • Oversee industrial hygiene activities including but not limited to noise, hazardous material sampling, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) review and PPE assessments, etc.
  • Ensure EPA compliance and provides oversite to Autoliv’s Environmental Management System to minimize risk to the environment and community
  • Conduct incident investigations and interface with regulatory agencies
  • Develop customized safety communications (e.g., Newsletters, Safety Alerts, etc.)
  • Maintain and analyze HS&E data to identify risk and maintain visual safety management programs current
  • Provide technical expertise, training, and resources to customers, associates, legal, engineering and management

Qualifications

  • Ability to openly and effectively communicate and drive improvements and build credibility through relationships
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and collaborate with various levels of management in a complex manufacturing environment to identify and mitigate actual or potential safety risks
  • Able to improve operations and achieve 100% compliance and effectively lead and participate in a team environment
  • Capable of handling difficult situations and conflicts in an ever-changing manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and analytical communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to partner and drive accountability for zero incident mentality and proactive safety culture
  • Demonstrated ability to display a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated presentation skills, time management skills, and speaking-listening-writing skills
  • Proven investigative skills for accident/near miss investigations and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities and ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting industry regulations and developing facility strategies to support personnel safety and compliance preferred

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and/or related field preferred
  • 10 years health and safety experience in manufacturing preferred
  • 5 years manager/supervisor experience preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) strongly preferred
  • Explosives and Process Safety Management experience preferred
  • According to the Safe Explosives Act of 2002, it is unlawful for certain persons to ship, transport, receive, or possess explosive materials. Therefore, you will be required to be a US Citizen or a lawful permanent resident.
