Autoliv in Auburn Hills, MI, is currently looking to fill the role of an Account Manager for its BMW/VW/Daimler Business Unit.  The role entails managing the day-to-day commercial issues for their assigned products.  These include quotes to the customer, contract management, price negotiations, capacity studies and tool order tracking and invoicing.  Additionally, they will lead or assist new business RFQ’s through the PSC process ensuring a timely response to the customer. This Account Manager must be a self-directed, results-oriented professional who can meet project deadlines and company objectives. Responsibilities/Duties include:

Develop strategies & lead actions to grow Autoliv sales & profitability within the  Business Unit:

  • Window person to Autoliv organization for customer related daily issues: Provide voice of customer to Autoliv and voice of Autoliv to customer.
  • Identify & pursue new business opportunities with Customer
  • Lead quotation activities for identified new business opportunities
  • Work with wider BU & Product Family Teams to develop & execute profitability improvement plans for launch projects
  • Work with Business Support Group to manage all aspects of financial planning / performance i.e. Income statement improvement, follow up payment process issues, customer funding for development / tooling costs etc.
  • High attention to detail, with accuracy & logic to ensure alignment of historical quotation submissions on both regional & global levels.
  • Significant liaison with global colleagues
  • High flexibility in supporting global & regional activities, including travel & virtual meetings Strong oral, written, presentation, negotiation, strategic planning & relationship building skills.
  • Build deep & trusting relations with customer, especially Purchasing & Supplier Development members, top to bottom of the customer organization.
  • Drive & align customer strategies & initiatives with Autoliv actions
  • Work closely with & ensure alignment with:
    • Global Business Unit team members, especially AM’s, PM’s & CTM’s
    • Business Support Group, Sales Support Group Product Family Teams
  • Ensure Green customer scorecard
  • Meeting PAS profitability (CM & EBIT) targets for launch projects (reported in ICAN) & overall account as reported in Customer Income Statement Driving profitable sales growth for the overall Business Unit by meeting PAS & BU specific Order Intake goals.

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration and/or related field, including a minimum of 5 years’ Sales experience in Account Management. Other qualifications include:

  • Must have minimum 3+ years’ experience in Tier One Automotive industry
  • Must have proven customer experience (preferably BMW/VW/Daimler) specifically, European OEM's, Tier 1 Seating or I/P Exposure, Restraints and/or Autoliv highly preferred.
  • Previous experience maximizing profitability while working within the allowable constraints of the customer.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to support global meetings off-hours if necessary.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally and/or internationally as required.
  • Must be fluent in English; German and/or Spanish language skills preferred.
  • Good flexibility with working globally, mostly across US & Asia time-zones.
  • Familiarity with OEM specific philosophies, actions and behaviors.
